LOSSES AND QUESTIONS

I spent Sunday evening and Monday morning researching the damage the EF5 tornado did to my hometown of Joplin, Missouri Sunday. Sirens alerted residents of a dangerous situation at 5:11 PM. Twenty minutes later, a tornado, three-fourths of a mile wide, wind velocities over 200 mph, touched down on the southwest side of town and ripped a swath through six miles of residential and business areas. COMPETING BARS IN BASEBALL

“Set the bar, Albert.” This is the new mantra in baseball news. Albert Pujols, perhaps the best hitter in baseball, completes the final year of his contract with the St. Louis Cardinals this year. Contract negotiations stalled on the day before spring training began. Both sides agreed to delay them until the end of the season, at which time the Cardinals will have five days of exclusive rights to resign the hitting star. Continue reading
