BASEBALL’S PERFECT KNIGHT

“Here stands baseball’s perfect warrior. Here stands baseball’s perfect knight.” The commissioner of baseball, Ford Frick, spoke those words of one of the legends of the game. The words now appear at the base of his statue, placed outside his hometown ballpark, where he played every game of his 22-year career. Last Saturday, January 19, that legend departed from this world, 92 years old, leaving one of the most impeccable reputations in the history of the game, or any sport, for that matter. TEBOW TIME

He did it again Sunday. Tim Tebow steered the Denver Broncos to another come-from-behind victory. Five times this season he has forged fourth-quarter rallies to win. When he assumed the quarterback position, the Broncos were 1-4. Now they are 8-5. You do the math. Continue reading

COMPETING BARS IN BASEBALL

“Set the bar, Albert.” This is the new mantra in baseball news. Albert Pujols, perhaps the best hitter in baseball, completes the final year of his contract with the St. Louis Cardinals this year. Contract negotiations stalled on the day before spring training began. Both sides agreed to delay them until the end of the season, at which time the Cardinals will have five days of exclusive rights to resign the hitting star. Continue reading
