SAME-SEX MARRIAGE: LOSING THE BATTLE AND THE WAR
The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled in favor of same-sex marriage, but it likely will not end the strife or wrangling that this issue has inflamed. Although public opinion has accelerated in favor of same-sex marriage (50% of Americans favor it, up from 39% in 2008, according to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life), staunch opponents remain entrenched.
A bigger question emerges from this conflict: When Christians publicly denounce homosexuality and its practitioners, are we faithfully representing Jesus? Would Jesus be compelled to appear on FOX News or Bill O’Reilly’s show to oppose same-sex marriage? Continue reading

HOLLYWOOD’S BLIND SIDE
I finally broke down and watched a movie that several of my daughters were raving about. “The Vow,” starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, chronicles a young couple’s tumultuous recovery from a car accident that nearly killed both of them. Paige suffered a brain injury that left a five-year hole in her memory, including the romance and marriage to her husband, Leo. Continue reading

MARRIAGE
For the discussion of marriage, the bodily union of two people is necessary and that union should follow the natural order. In the created order, marriage is distinguished by a relationship between two people who have committed themselves to the process of becoming one flesh. The unique features of the male and female bodies provide a natural sexual union that is violated when two members of the same gender engage in sexuality. Continue reading
