About

I am a follower of Jesus Christ who believes that all truth is finally contained in Him. Discovering that truth is a lifelong process and I continue on that journey.

My desire for this blog site is to try to think “Christianly” about every facet of life. Every event in life requires interpretation and that interpretation is conditioned by the way we have shaped our minds with what we believe to be truth. I want my mind to be shaped by Jesus Christ as He has revealed truth in the Word of God.

I am a pastor, a father of seven children and grandfather of six children (and counting). I am a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary where my theological thinking only began.

I hope that I can encourage you to examine your world with the same passion for truth that I have.

    Stan,
After the recent Joplin tornado tragedy, I thought of you and wondered if you and your family were living there. Via the “I can’t believe this works” power of Google I located your blog. It is now a special subscription in my Google reader! You continue to be not only a truth seeker, but a truth giver. Thank you for your ministry to a group of rag-tag Lancaster teenagers (let’s see …hum…about 37 years ago). Your teaching, example, & counsel were used by God to set me on a road to seek Him. By His grace and love I still am walking this journey.
    Kathryn

What a special treat to hear from you, Kathryn! 37 years! Wow!! It only goes to show the powerful and faithful work of God’s Spirit in completing the work he began in us (Phil. 1:6) to conform us to the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29). Keep seeking the truth, dear friend, as it will draw us closer together in his body.

Stan, do you remember John and Leah Carnagey from Joplin, Mo back in the 80’s? I remember my Greek classes with you at SW Bolivar extension at that big church. We are living in Yakima, WA with our son and his family. How is your extended family and wherevarevyou now? Blessings
    Leah

Leah! Yes we remember you guys. We especially remember the year we sang “The Messiah” together. You and other local soloists provided the best performances ever of you community performances

I am sorry to just now be responding to you, but I haven’t posted on my blog for a decade. How are you guys doing? Why don’t you email me directly at stanwiedeman@gmail.com. Debbie and I would love to hear from you guys!

        Hi Stan

John died in 2022 from Alzheimers complications. I live 3 minutes from our son Tim and his family in Yakima, WA. He has 2 boys..age 5 and 2. They have Joh’s wit and creativity. I am blessed! Write back soon.

Leah, I am so sorry to hear about John. He really was a gifted and very witty guy. Debbie just reminded me that he played piano for her on a Cerebral Palsy television marathon.

But I am so glad that you can live near your son and his children. Our seven children are scattered. Two live here, one with 4 children. Two live in St. Louis, one with 3 children. A daughter lives in Kansas City with 2 children and a daughter lives outside of Houston with 9 children (not a typo). One son is temporarily living with us while regrouping. He moved here from L.A. last summer.

I no longer pastor but work as a paraprofessional (assist in classroom) in the math department in a high school 3 minutes from my house (five of my children graduated there). Debbie is a children’s librarian in the local library where she can walk nearly every day. We are doing well, in spite of typical family issues. We are both very healthy – so far.

I put in for retirement in 5 years (which enables certain salary bumps each year prior to retirement). Debbie is considering retirement next year but we are not certain. We plan to move into an apartment above my daughter’s garage (not built yet and one mile from our house) which would mean significant downsizing. Not sure I am ready to accept downsizing our income right now.

We really should stay in touch. Please use my email address to contact me in the future. We might be in Washington one day as we have considered doing an Amtrak vacation to Seattle. If you email, I will have your email as well.
